BEST Institut für berufsbezogene Weiterbildung und Personaltraining GmbH pilots the LEAP platform (app.e-leap.eu) within the project/course “New Spirit – kompetent in den Job” (“New Spirit – competent into the job“). The project is funded by the Public Employment Service Austria and conducted by BEST in Vienna.
The course aims to integrate unemployed young adults (between 21-25 years) into the labour market. Their integration has been proven to be difficult so far and thus the learners need targeted support. By acquiring or strengthening basic skills in the area of IT and digitalisation, jobseekers are supported integratively and actively in their application and job search activities. Thus, the chances of early integration into the labour market can be significantly increased.
The course starts in March 2019 and lasts about five weeks (75 hours). In this time the participants will learn about computer and online basics, word processing and spreadsheet analysis. The first week is mainly dedicated to learning about the computer and online basics, whereby the focus lies on networking and social media – especially related to how they can use these in their job search.
The learning and willingness to participate, the joy of learning and the motivation of the learners should be increased above all by a "completely different" course design of “New Spirit”. The participants do not learn and work in usual class settings with lessons but find alternative learning offerings (“stations”), which they can choose themselves according to their needs and interests. Depending on the task, the tasks are handled alone, in tandem or in small groups. The trainer supports the participants and provides assistance when needed.
In this context, the LEAP platform provides a good basis to support the assessment as well as to foster the further communication and individual exchange between the participants and the trainer.
